THE VIRGINIA HORSE CENTER FOUNDATION

ANNOUNCES ELECTION OF OWEN WEAVER

TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

LEXINGTON, VA—Following the Virginia Horse Center Foundation’s December quarterly meeting, the organization’s Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer Glenn T. Petty are pleased to announce the addition of Owen Weaver of Roanoke to the Board for a three-year term.

A veterinarian by training, Dr. Weaver brings a wealth of experience to the Horse Center as a competitor, breeder, and actively engaged volunteer. She currently rides for Foxgrape Farm, for which she recently took over operations after the passing of her parents, where she competes in the amateur divisions. As a breeder, Dr. Weaver successfully raises young horses who are making a name in the Saddlebred industry.

Dr. Weaver’s distinguished Board service includes such organizations as the Big D Horse Show (Dallas, TX) and the Roanoke Valley Horse Show (Roanoke, VA.) She served nine years on the Board of Directors of the American Saddlebred Museum (Lexington, KY) with three years as Vice President. Additionally, she was President of the Associate section of the United Professional Horsemen’s Association and served a year on the USEF National Breeds and Disciplines Council. Presently, Dr. Weaver is in her sixth year of Board service to the American Saddlebred and Breeders Board, serving as Secretary.

Upon her election to the Horse Center’s Board, Dr. Weaver commented, “I am honored and happy to serve my home state with service on the Virginia Horse Center Board. I have shown for many years at the Horse Center, and it is absolutely my favorite venue in which to exhibit my horses. Promotion of horse sport and conserving and expanding the fortunes of the Horse Center are my top interests and priority. I look forward to serving with this excellent Board and its outstanding CEO to help make the Horse Center a destination of choice for the very best horses and competitors in the nation.”

Foundation Board President Roxanne Booth commented, “I am thrilled to welcome Owen to the Horse Center’s Board of Directors. Her lifelong dedication to horses in Virginia and beyond will add even more depth to our team of volunteer leaders.”

Dr. Weaver is joined on the Board by President Roxanne Booth (Charlottesville), Vice President Kenneth Wheeler, Jr. (Keswick), Treasurer Jeff Sterba (Troy), Secretary Elizabeth Horsley (Richmond), and Immediate Past President Gardy Bloemers (Esmont).
