Closure of Pigeon Island National Landmark

(Saint Lucia National Trust)- To facilitate the safe and successful staging of the Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival 2024 at the Pigeon Island National Landmark, the Council of the Trust has taken the decision to close the Landmark to the public from Saturday 4 May through Friday 17 May 2024.

The Trust regrets any inconvenience caused to our patrons and members during this time, however, the Council and Management determined this decision necessary to minimize risk to patrons and enable service providers to safely complete both set-up and break down.

The Trust looks forward to a safe and successful Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival and to welcoming you back to the Landmark once the area is sufficiently cleared of event infrastructure and debris and deemed safe for our patrons and members’ regular enjoyment again.

Republic Bank Breaks Ground on Multi-Million Dollar Rodney Bay City Centre Investment Project

The SLHTA congratulates member Republic Bank on the successful ground breaking ceremony for the Rodney Bay City Centre Investment Project.

The 14-acre project financed by Republic Bank is being developed by Blue Investment Ltd., a subsidiary of Domhad Properties Ltd. The development will comprise five multi-story buildings and incorporates commercial, retail, residential and recreational spaces.

The multi-million-dollar project is slated to be rolled out in two phases. The first phase will be the home of RBEC Regional Headquarters and a new Rodney Branch for the Bank’s Saint Lucian customers. It is expected that the Headquarters will better enable the Bank to serve its domestic clients as well as the wider Eastern Caribbean community.

Developing Reduit Beach

On Thursday, May 2nd 2024, SLHTA Director Marella Devaux and Business Development Officer Juliet Sutherland attended a Stakeholder Consultation on the Reduit Beach Park construction. The Minister for Tourism Dr Ernest Hilaire, along with Invest St Lucia CEO Octavian Charles, Chairman Lindon Arnold, Communication Manager Amalie Mathurin and Earland Labadie, General Manager DFPS were in attendance to host the consultation.

The proposed beach park seeks to enhance the overall experience for both locals and visitors alike. The plan is to recreate the current area encompassing the licensed vendors already in situ and upgrade the site to include 44 parking lots, 2 restaurants and bars, 10 vending booths, a picnic area, a BBQ pit, as well as loungers and washroom and shower facilities.

Alia Resorts are the developers. The Gros Islet Constituency Council (GICC) and the National Conservation Authority (NCA) will be working in close liaison with the MInistry of Tourism on this project which they hope to have completed by 2025.

She has always held the position of housekeeper at the Bay Gardens Hotel and when asked what she likes the most about working there, she mentioned that she loves meeting guests of different cultures. She made it clear that she loves her job, and it excites her when guests leave a great review of the room’s cleanliness after she cleans up.

She also mentioned that the support and recognition received from her General Manager and management make her feel good daily.
