Cedar Lake– Last year, Republicans in Congress sought to address the immigration crisis by passing H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act, which Congressman Frank Mrvan voted against.
Today, the White House is telling lawmakers that President Biden is preparing to sign off on an executive order that would limit the flow of immigration to 2500 cases per day. Randy Niemeyer, Lake County Councilman and Republican Congressional nominee for Indiana's First District called out the President for not acting sooner:
“It’s about time that President Biden does something to secure our border. Don’t forget that Joe Biden and his enablers in Congress like Frank Mrvan manufactured this crisis that we see today. We can all see this for what it is- an election-year gimmick. If he really cared about securing the border, the Senate would pass H.R. 2, and the President would sign it today,” stated Niemeyer.
