Tenn. Wing Documents Tornado Destruction
The Tennessee Wing generated thousands of aerial images of damage resulting from the deadly tornado that struck Nashville and surrounding mid-state communities March 3.
In all, the wing conducted nine flights – four devoted to aerial photography, four to relocate key personnel and one to observation – and also deployed a pair of ground teams to survey the damage.

“This is a very difficult mission due to the scale of the damage and the human tragedy,” said Lt. Col. Rob Borsari, the wing’s director of operations . “We have flown a total of 15 hours and collected thousands of images of the damaged areas.”

One of the wing’s planes, a Cessna 1 8 2, was destroyed on the ground when the EF-4 tornado struck John C. Tune Airport in Nashville.

Green Flag is key in providing realistic Predator/Reaper remotely piloted arcraft (RPA) integration into air and ground force battlefield combat training through the use of CAP surrogate sensor camera-equipped airplanes (MQ-1/MQ-9 SRPAs).

Hollerbach is seen here receiving her certificate of training completion from Lt. Col. Harvey Irby, Green Flag west unit commander and Nevada Wing vice commander, after an intensive seven-day training program at CAP’s Green Flag University at Green Flag West.
