A Message from the County Executive

Dear Neighbors:

The momentum and progress being made continued in earnest this past month. We released our new County Comprehensive Plan - the first update in 25 years! This plan will serve as the framework and roadmap as our community continues to grow.

We also continued to keep our promise of investing in public safety and I was recently joined by several legislators to announce $750,000 in public safety grants for our local first responders.

I was honored to join members of our community to unveil a brand new deep water fishing pier at Onondaga Lake. The comeback of Onondaga Lake is a story we should all be proud of and my administration is committed to investing in all of our blueways throughout Onondaga County.

Last, but certainly not least, I visited Micron Headquarters in Boise, Idaho this past month to witness firsthand some of the next generation technology that will be made right here in Onondaga County. My administration will ensure that every person in our County has the opportunity to be part of this historic investment.

Below you will find other events and announcements that took place over the month of May. One of the things my team and I enjoy most is getting out in the community to share the story of our investments and successes, but also to hear from you directly and I look forward to continuing those efforts in the months ahead.

County Executive Opens New Deep Water Fishing Pier

Just in time for Summer, County Executive Ryan McMahon announced the opening of a new deep water fishing pier on Onondaga Lake - another example of the amazing comeback of Onondaga Lake! The new floating pier is located off the West Shore Trail, south of the Honeywell Visitors Center. The 100-feet long and 20-feet wide pier is wheelchair accessible and will be open seasonally, from April to October.

County Executive Ryan McMahon said, "The new pier is the latest example of the county's comprehensive plan to increase public access to greenways and blueways. One of the plan's top priorities is giving people more access to fish from the lakeshore."
