In the wake of the recent hurricane devastation, SHPE spearheaded a rallying call to their network and raised sponsorships of over $85,000 to travel 67 students impacted by the recent disasters to attend the 2017 SHPE National Conference last month..."

ROD GARCIA RECOGNIZED FOR HIS "TRANSCENDENT CONTRIBUTIONS"
|
|
On December 8, the Los Angeles City Council honored SHPE Founding Father and National Board Member Rodrigo T. Garcia with a formal resolution that states "be it resolved by the Los Angeles City Council and on behalf of the residents of the City and the employees of the City that RODRIGO 'ROD' T. GARCIA be recognized for his indelible and transcendent contributions toward the advancement of Hispanics engineers in the United States of America."
Rod was also honored that week by the Bureau of Sanitation, the Board of Public Works, and he received the Founders Legacy Award from the SHPE Los Angeles Chapter.
"I accepted the awards on behalf of all of us," said Rod. "Over the years I have been recognized several times and I appreciate the recognition but more important the biggest reward is seeing SHPE prosper and continuing on its mission. Thank you all and let's keep pushing forward."
