Hawaiian New Student Orientation 

Kamakakūokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies

UH Mānoa Campus 

Friday, August 19, 2022 

9:00 am to 3:00 pm

 

The Kamakakūokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies is located at 2645 Dole Street, Honolulu HI, 96822. The event opening will be located at the Hālau o Haumea on the ground floor of the building, look for our event signs for navigation. We will have coffee and pastries available for the morning and a full lunch served mid-day. 



A sneak peak of the day includes...

  • Meeting other incoming Native Hawaiian students and connect with them so you have a peer support community.
  • Student Panel with your fellow undergraduates to answer questions and how to navigate UHM's opportunities, programs and more and more!
  • A fun & engaging campus tour that illuminates the history of UHM and also Hawaiian places of interest and significance located here on campus. 
  • Meet and launa with our NHSS team to answer any of your questions and more importantly to create a seamless transition to UH Mānoa.

Parking for our Event

Parking is available in the Center for Hawaiian Studies/Dole Street parking structure located between the Center for Hawaiian Studies and Kānewai Park. Our event is on a state holiday, therefore parking is FREE, so you may also look for in any of the stalls around campus, parking structures, and street parking should the parking structure be full that day. We suggest you do not park in stalls that are not already marked with reserved 24 hours signs or no parking stalls.

HNSO Agenda & Breakout Sessions

Included at the end of the Orientation is an OPTIONAL campus tour at the end of the orientation. If you decide to join us for it, we suggest you bring a water bottle, comfortable shoes, hat and/or sunglasses, and sunscreen. The campus tour is approximately 60 to 90 minutes.

Native Hawaiian Student Services (NHSS) offers programs and services aimed to support Hawaiian students at UH Mānoa. Our campus is home to the largest Hawaiian student body and faculty body engaged in higher education in the world. In addition to this upcoming Hawaiian New Student Orientation, we also have other opportunities throughout the summer and into the academic year.
