Pleasanton Pipeline - Water Updates |
This information is designed to keep you informed about many important Pleasanton water supply and quality issues. We encourage you to read the articles below and click the various links to obtain more information. Your questions and feedback are welcome - you can email us a pwd@cityofpleasantonca.gov or call (925) 931-5500.
Over the past few years, the City of Pleasanton contracted with an outside firm to study our current water rates and how much funding would be needed to meet the community’s water supply and quality needs. Since rates have not gone up since 2011, a larger increase is needed now.
We recognize increased costs affect your bottomline. The City will ensure that all new revenue will be closely monitored to fund the vital improvements and operations needed to ensure safe and reliable water for decades to come.
Funding is required to pay for capital improvement projects, replenish reserve funds, prepare for future State and Federal water quality regulations, and cover the cost of operations and maintenance.
The proposed first-year increase impacts customers differently based on the customer's bi-monthly water consumption. The following figure (from July 18, 2023, City Council agenda report - page 10) shows the impact of the proposed water rate increases on commercial customers. Click the button below to view a comparison of current rates vs. proposed rates.
