Speakers Panel Breakfast: Diversity & Inclusion in the Workplace

Last Thursday, the Chamber's Women Leadership Committee presented its Annual Speakers Panel. What an informative event! The three panelists covered aspects around Diversity & Inclusion in the Workplace, and the importance of open dialogue among employees and employers.
Dr. Hawks from NSU spoke on Workplace Culture and "D&I in the Workplace", focusing on race. Steven Halstead from Senior Life Publications spoke on "Ageism & the Workplace and LGBTQ+ protection". Finally, Daniela Carrion, from Linesch Law, covered the legal aspect, speaking on "D&I and the Law".

A Chamber Education Fund Scholarship was presented to Donald Forbes II! Donald is enrolled in the Computer Systems and IT program at the Pinellas Technical College, and was chosen as Student of the Month. He competed in the SkillsUSA state level competition in Jacksonville in the Information Technology Services (ITS) competition and received a bronze medal! Donald is currently CompTIA A+ and Network+ certified, aiming to also obtain his Security+ certification. He says "Thanks to my experience here at Pinellas Technical College and the opportunities they have offered me... I will be starting my career within the IT field as an IT Support Intern for Clark & Associates!".
