URGENT REQUEST!

President Biden's request for $310 million in supplemental appropriations for the sewage crisis is being held up in Congress. Unless they act soon, this funding opportunity could be lost.

We need to ensure that the House Appropriations Committee includes this funding in any upcoming spending deal. The best way to do this is to call Congressman Juan Vargas' local office at

619-422-5963 . Local staff submits a daily summary of calls to Congressman Vargas' office in Washington and Congressman Vargas will convey the messages to the Appropriations Committee.

Anyone calling should identify themselves as a concerned IB resident/constituent and ask Congress to include President Biden’s request for $310 million to fix and expand the South Bay International Wastewater Treatment Plant in any funding deal. The sewage that’s polluting South Bay beaches sickens residents and harms small businesses that count on beach tourism. It also threatens national security: Navy SEALs train in those waters and border patrol agents work the Tijuana River Valley and coastline.

Time is of the essence, so please act now!
