The debate on energy and climate change is an increasingly important focus of policy for national, regional and local governments throughout Europe. International interest in evaluating the wide range of climate change policies is growing as fast as the investment that is being made in it--but is the investment being made in the most effective manner? Everyone recognizes that effective evaluation is crucial; however, approaches differ between nations and programmes. Join us for a lively discussion on these and other issues. |

Featured Panel Evaluation as a Risk Management Tool in the Face of an Energy Crisis
.
Man made or natural changes in energy supply?
The focus of the panel is on how results from evaluations (especially of energy efficiency programs) can be used to help value resources when an organization (or country) assesses its energy situation. Germany and Japan are good examples of how energy evaluation could be used to help rebuild their energy resources following a natural disaster such as a Tsunami or policy changes such as phasing out oil, nuclear or coal power sources. Our speakers:
Japan: Ken-Ichiro Nishio - Central Research Institute of (the) Electric Power Industry (CRIEPI)
China: Li Pengcheng, China National Institute of Standardization
Brazil: Luiz A Horta Nogueira, UNIFEI, Brazil
Korea: Ikpyo Kim, Expert commissioner / Dept. of Energy
