In March 2021, Puddle arrived at our shelter underweight, neglected, and flea-covered. Our staff worked tirelessly with him and showered this sweet boy with TLC. Even though many potential adopters came to meet him, none of them were the right fit. That was until HBPets Thrift Shop Manager, John, and his wife, Tirrah, adopted him on day 364 of living at our shelter! Here's the story, told by John.
“Moving from Florida to McMinnville, Tirrah and I saw Puds on social media and fell in love. After having recently helped our beloved, elderly dog over the rainbow bridge, we knew our home had room for another furry family member. Immediately after getting our keys to the new house, we rushed to the shelter to meet him, and it was love at first sight.
Probably the product of a “backyard breeder," he has anxiety around dogs, is slow to warm up to people, and one of his legs healed improperly after being broken. Our journey hasn’t been easy, but we wouldn’t trade him for the world. Puds brings joy, routine, and love to our home. With a trainer, we realized we needed the training, not him.
He greets me daily when I get home from work, and he is a celebrity on Tirrah’s Zoom meetings – he even has his own Instagram account (#puddle_themacpup)! Despite several comfy beds, he sleeps in ours every night. He loves to play with his toys and sunbathe in his pool! We can't imagine our lives without Puds and are very grateful to the entire shelter team for the hard work they invested in this beautiful boy."
