Walk the Labyrinth and Restore

The labyrinth is an ancient path of prayer. It is not a maze; it has no dead ends. A labyrinth is a simple, two-way path leading from an entrance to a center and back out again. Walking the labyrinth is a metaphor for walking the sacred path in our everyday life.

For centuries, people of all backgrounds have found the labyrinth to be a helpful centering tool. The pattern of the labyrinth invites us to move quietly, thoughtfully, and deliberately to a central point and back. The simple process of moving to the center often prompts a “letting go” and an ability to focus clearly on one’s deepest needs, concerns or potential.

Come walk the labyrinth – discover a way of prayer, a way of being in communion with God.

The labyrinth is built into the carpet of the Chapel on the second floor of the building. Guided walks are scheduled occasionally, but the labyrinth is also available for private use by appointment. Please contact the church office at info@fumc.org to inquire about availability.

Fundraising Opportunity

On Saturdays during the warmer months, we allow others to use our parking lot for a small donation. There are currently some open Saturdays, so if your group or committee is looking for some additional funds and is willing to monitor our parking lot for a few hours, please email Mallory at myanchus@fumc.org for more information.

Forest Bathing

Saturday, June 15, 9am carpool, 10am start

Natural Path Sanctuary, Verona

Forest bathing, also known as “shinrin-yoku” in Japanese, is the practice of immersing oneself in the natural environment of a forest. It involves slowing down, engaging the senses, and simply being present in the forest. The concept emphasizes the therapeutic effects of spending time in nature and has been linked to reduced stress, improved mood, and overall well-being.

Contact Josie Gobel, 920-988-0705, if you are interested in carpooling.

Adopt-a-School News

Hawthorne Elementary now has a new dryer! Thanks to some wonderfully generous FUMC angels, we were able to purchase and have a dryer delivered to the school. After receiving 10 donations, one member covered the balance of $250! We truly do have some wonderful people at our church.

Current Needs at the School

1. Tutors and classroom helpers

Go to the MMSD District site and go into the Volunteer Tracker to get clearance. There are two different levels of volunteering: Level 1 does not entail a background check and the volunteer works in the classroom with the teacher. Level 2 requires a background check and enables the volunteer to work with a child individually outside the classroom. Volunteers are also needed from June 1 -July 26 for summer school. We will set up a tour of the school for anyone who is interested.

2. Donations for the students and the Food Pantry

  • Summer clothes for children– all sizes (clothes are in short supply right now)
  • Shoes–childrens’ sizes 12,1-2
  • Soap, shampoo, conditioner
  • Laundry detergent and dryer sheets
  • Food: sugar, rice, beans, canned food (ready to eat), tuna packets, shelf-stable milk
  • Toilet paper
  • Snacks–pretzels, Goldfish, Cheezits, etc

Thank you to all who have donated so consistently. You make a difference.

Church Camp

Registration is open for Summer Church Camp! Head over to the website and check out the summer schedule for grades 2-12, family camps, and adult special needs camps. There are some exciting adventures and we’d love to help send you to explore and experience God at camp. Check in with Pastor Mallory if you’d like a scholarship to help cover the cost.
