Upton Bass Endorse!

Hey Eric!

So my CD came out this Tuesday, February 8th.

Thanks!  Matt

Greetings!

Last week I sat down with not much to say...but lots of you did!  Thank you so much to all of you who wrote in to let me know what you think of The Upton Report!  It meant a lot to me to hear from you.

What are you doing tonight at 9pm EST?  I know, you're listening to Upton Basses lawyer, Sam Sherry, and his band mates streaming LIVE on Maine Public Radio.  Link below...enjoy the show!  Real live Jazz at home, as it happens...not a recorded live set...I love the internet!

So, without further ado, I bring you some Friday night double bass goodness!

And remember...if you have ANY links, news, videos, etc. you want to share (really...please...share!), eMail it to me at eroy@uptonbass.com and I'll be sure to share it.  Oh...and if you just want to say "Hi" you can do that too!

Have a nice weekend!

The Tom Porter Quartet
Maine Public Radio

The Tom Porter Quartet is on Maine Public Radio on Friday, February 11th at 9:00 p.m.  MPR is in Portland at 90.9FM and the show also streams online.

The band is:
Tom Porter, piano
Frank Mauceri, tenor and soprano saxophone
Sam Sherry, double bass
Mark Barnette, drums

Tom is well-known in Maine for his work as host and producer of Maine Things Considered on MPR.  The band covers the spectrum of modern jazz performing songs ranging from jazz standards to recent works from American and international composers, including pieces written by Frank and myself.  It's a really fine, really fun band and we have put some time into preparing to sound our best Friday night.

Please join us!

BEST, SAM
Slow-motion Bass Strings
Vimeo
Frequency of the bass strings and high shutter speed of the camera lead to this surprising string-wobble footage.

There is no slow-mo applied to the take. Sound is original.
video was filmed with a Canon 5D MarkII , Nikon 50mm lens on 1,8f.

Andy Anderson Bass Lesson #1
YouTube
Eric, I attended a master class with Chicago bassist Andy Anderson last weekend. It was a great clinic. I found some you tube video lessons from him that are fun. If you search Andy Anderson bass on you tube you'll find a bunch to pick from
