Greetings!
"Hi!" Last eMail of the year here. Two of the basses in yesterdays eMail might have new homes...so if you're thinking about one of these basses don't procrastinate...put down your mouse and go pickup the phone! Tomorrow marks the last open day of the year for us as we will be closed starting from Saturday December 24th until we re-open Tuesday January 3rd. The busy little elves here at Gary's workshop have some R&R (not repair and restoration!) to do as we recharge our batteries and gear up to make some serious wood-chips hit the floor in 2012. From ALL of us here at Upton Bass, thank you for a great 2011! We LOVE what we do and we LOVE doing it for YOU! And as always, the best is yet to come...so stay tuned!!!And remember, if you have a favorite video clip, performance, or multimedia piece that is double related you want to share with me (and several thousand of my closest friends), please eMail me at eroy@uptonbass.com. Thanks!

Italian Mid 18th Century Bass This carefully restored violin-shaped solo instrument sounds remarkable when bowed and is featured in a prominent double bass book!

J. Thibouville-Lamy Bass
A Classic JTL pattern from the 1890's makes a lovely vintage solo instrument. Located in our Boston location. |
Shen Rogeri SB300 Bass
This 7/8ths concert bass is "conservatory tested," has gone through it's break-in period and includes excellent extras. A great section workhorse which really pushes air when played in a jazz setting. |
Swanson Double Bass c1965
If you want something different, these monster basses were built in Pittsburgh and each one made was truly one of a kind. Swanson "Number 63" moves huge amounts of air. An iconoclastic instrument for unique acoustic settings. Think 300 year old Italian Bass orchestral sound for pennies on the dollar! |
