2) - Rabbi's Message

Last Shabbat, I spoke about the transition from the gloom of Tisha B'Av to the hope of the Haftarah Nachamu. The Torah portion includes the warning passage read on the morning of Tisha B'Av. It forecasts that the Israelites will forsake God and be dispersed by their enemies. Nachamu promises the return from captivity and the restoration of the people in the homeland. Since October 7, we have been living this drama. When will Israelis return to their homes in the north and south? When will the hostages return home, either for tearful reunions or mournful burials? When will safety and security be restored, if only partially? We also hope and pray with our brothers and sisters all over the world for the end of hostilities to the Jewish people everywhere.

--Rabbi Art Vernon
