OSHA Alliance: Creating A Safer Industry

In a significant stride towards improved safety in the load handling industry, CCO and the NCCCO Foundation have entered into a formal alliance with OSHA. This collaboration, inaugurated on November 16, 2023, is set to expand safety awareness across the industry. New Crane Inspector Designation: Articulating Crane

Responding to industry feedback, CCO introduces a new Articulating Crane Inspector designation, aligning with ASME B30.22 standards to meet specific inspector qualifications,


This addition fills a critical gap, distinguishing between articulating and mobile crane inspections, and requires five years of relevant experience or formal education alongside passing comprehensive written exams. Read more

CCO's All-Digital Future

On January 1, CCO completed phasing-out standard paper/pencil testing for written exams. This shift toward digital test delivery is part of our continuous effort to enhance efficiency and accessibility in the certification process.


All candidates now utilize one of three written testing options, Online Proctored Testing (OPT), Test Center Testing (TCT), or Event Online Testing (EOT). All three options offer:


  • An easy online application process
  • No late application or rescheduling fees
  • Quick and simple online scheduling
  • Immediate score reporting

Telehandler Certification Maximizes Safety on Jobsites

Introduced last year, our Telehandler Operator (THO) certification marks a significant step in advancing job site safety and efficiency, being the only credential available to directly align with OSHA 1926 and 1910 General Industry Rules. 


This certification addresses the critical need for standardized knowledge in both fixed and rotating telehandler operation. 


With this offering, operators can demonstrate that they’re not only competent but also deeply committed to maintaining industry-wide safety standards for safe operation. Read more

Spanish Bilingual Committee Formed

In February 2024, CCO announced the formation of a Spanish Bilingual Committee aimed at enhancing the accessibility of CCO's certification programs for Spanish-speaking candidates.

Pilot Program Update: Concrete Pump Operator

We're excited to announce that we've entered the final phases of pilot testing for the Concrete Pump Operator Practical Exam. 


These final refinements will ensure that the test meets CCO's high safety and competency standards. While the practical exam is in development, candidates can still gain certification through written examination.
