Lecturer Matthew Frye-Castillo (English) is the winner of a prestigious Tennessee Williams Scholarship in Nonfiction from the Sewanee Writers Conference. He plans to work on an essay collection about mixed-race identity and redefining oneself.

"I’m especially excited because I will be working with Jaquira Díaz and Aisha Sabatini Sloan, two authors I have taught in “Writing Essentials” and “LGBTQIA+ Literature."
