Dear Parents,
Thank you for your support while we worked with the Hickory Hills Police Department last Friday regarding the bomb threat. As with all we do here at St. Patricia School, the children’s safety is number one. Thank you for your trust in us.
The children attended today’s liturgy where Father Meany stressed the importance of unity and working together. What a wonderful message to begin a new school year!
Please be sure to mark your calendars for the Mum Sale and Picture Day. The information is included below.
Our 5th graders began the DARE Program this week with Officer Franks visiting the classroom for an hour. He emphasizes the dangers our children face such as drug usage, bullying and cyberbullying. Officer Franks does an excellent job. Thank you to Hickory Hills Police Department for providing this service.
On September 12th, we will have our annual Curriculum Night, where the teachers meet with parents to discuss their curriculum and other pertinent information. The evening set up will be slightly different than years past. After we meet all parents, you will proceed to the classrooms as indicated two paragraphs below. The teachers will meet parents as a team: Junior High, grades 6-8 in Room 1; Intermediate, grades 3-5, Room 9; Primary, grades 1-2, Room 17. If you have children in multiple grades, there are two sessions to meet with those particular teachers. If you require a third or fourth session, I would suggest that both parents split up for the sessions. Teachers will only present twice. Please be aware of the limited time involved, so if you need to speak with the teacher regarding an individual concern, make an appointment. We ask that you keep your children home as this is an adult meeting.
If you have children in Preschool or Kindergarten, Miss Panozzo and Mrs. Lang will be present in their classrooms to assist with any individual concerns.
The schedule is as follows:
- 6:00-6:20 PM - Meet in gym for a parent meeting
- 6:25-6:55 PM - 1st Session with Teachers
- 7:00-7:25 PM - 2nd Session with Teachers
As I stated in an earlier newsletter, Mrs. Swanson is our new Athletic Director. She asks that you use this link to register for future athletic teams. https://form.jotform.com/232348790138158
REMINDERS:
It is imperative that all forms are completed and submitted to the front office. The medical forms are especially crucial to have doctors complete in grades PK, K and 6th as well as new students to St. Patricia.
Please be vigilant while in the parking lot when children are present. Follow the lead of the teachers present.
When dismissed, walkers should not exit to the rear of the church. They need to follow the fire lane to the sidewalk and proceed home.
God bless our school families!
Sincerely,
Kathleen Gorman
Interim Principal
