| State Senator Bob Dutton To Run For "Lewis" House Seat |
|
January 12, 2012
Greetings!
BREAKING NEWS FROM THE FLASHREPORT!
Tonight State Senator Bob Dutton confirmed to us that tomorrow he will formally announce his candidacy for the newly created 31st Congressional District in central San Bernardino County. This is the seat into which the home of Congressman Jerry Lewis was gerrymandered, but Lewis last week announced his retirement. Also last week the FlashReport scooped the story that Congressman Gary Miller would be running for CD 31, which Miller then made official. The entry of Dutton into the race sets up a GOP primary of sorts. With the passage of Prop. 14, there are no longer primaries. All of the candidates, regardless of party, will appear on the June ballot -- and the top two vote-getters will advance to June. In that competitive CD, it is likely that both the Republican and Democrat who get the most votes in June will be the candidates who advance. It is expected that Dutton will announce a host of local supporters at his press conference.
Sincerely, Jon Fleischman
