tourism to return and do nothing in the meantime.
Please take a few moments to read what is probably the
most important communication we have ever sent you.
Many of you have been checking in with us to see how things are going in Israel, how we are doing, and most importantly you have been telling us we are in your prayers…we appreciate that more than you will ever know. Thank you and thank you again. Today, we are reaching out to you because we believe you love Israel like we do.
We are in touch with our friends in Israel on a regular basis. Most are doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances, but life for them and all Israelis has changed tremendously since October 7. The needs are great, goods and services are in short supply, and we feel that we must do something to help in any way we can. Hence, we have decided to conduct a "Solidarity & Support Mission" to Israel in late February or early March to show our love and support for Israel in a tangible, hands-on way. We believe this may be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to stand with the people of Israel, and we will be there to assist, aid and comfort, and show the love of Christ anywhere and everywhere possible.
We are able to partner with longtime friend, Dr. Mike Evans and the Friends of Zion Heritage Center (FOZ) in Jerusalem. Ever since the Hamas attack on October 7, Friends of Zion has been providing ongoing support, supplies, and housing to untold numbers of families, Holocaust survivors, and IDF soldiers (currently serving or wounded). One wounded soldier, when asked what he needed, replied, “just my army watch…it was shattered in battle.” FOZ quickly filled his need by getting him a new army watch. This is ministry in action. There are thousands of Israelis who are now displaced, have lost everything including family - husbands, wives, and children without one or both parents. Massive needs exist for everything from a full meal p/day, p/person, to winter coats for soldiers. They need our prayers but they also need to see us. We plan to visit with soldiers, pray with them, provide comfort and support to those in need, and stand in love and solidarity with as many as possible. We plan to meet with IDF and other government representatives about the challenges and realities of post-October 7 life in Israel. We will meet with some of our top guides such as Shlomo Eyal, Gershon Priewer, or Ami Segal. We also plan to visit the Garden of Gethsemane for a time of intercessory prayer, and will conclude our stay with a visit to the Garden Tomb.
We anticipate being in Israel for 6 nights. Although we don’t have all the final plans yet, we need to hear back from you if you are interested in joining us. This trip is not limited to only pastors...anyone is welcome to join us, and we hope to have at least 15-20. So please get this information out to your congregation or friends. We do not know the exact cost yet, but we estimate it will be $1500-1800.00 p/p without airfare. In order to avoid placing a non-refundable airline deposit we have not secured a group booking. ELAL flies daily from several US cities and there are many good deals available. So please call or email us ASAP with questions or if you know you want to be a part of this mission.
You can’t go but want to help…yes you can do that! Please, please, please take an offering for the needs of the people of Israel. If you will do this, the money you raise will go directly to support ongoing efforts. You can designate your funds to go to soldiers, children, clothing, meals, transportation, etc., and we promise that every dollar will go directly as designated - and if not designated, to where it is needed most. Of course, if you will be able to come with us, you may bring funds with you.
