“ANTS CAN BUILD BRIDGES???”

Kids are pretty funny. The five year old of the Abbe family, Arthur, just happened to be present when the newsletter photo was being selected this week. "Whoa! Ants can build bridges?", I smiled and kindly noted, "Yep". To which he responded, "They built a bridge between two chameleons," and walked away.

I appreciate Arthur's interpretation of this picture. His genuine fascination with the tiny insects and their ability to be bigger then themselves, is a bright reminder that we too thrive when we work together. Art's five-year-old-expertise concluded that the uncurling fern tendrils were in fact a set of chameleons. While you and I may easily depict the fern leaves and know that this is a plant, Art's truth is still his truth, and for good reason: Green + Curly = Chameleon.

We all rely on our knowledge and wisdom to discern what we see, what we hear and what we feel about certain situations and experiences. Arthur's understanding of what he saw is the perfect reminder that we all process [via our senses] to the best of our ability. So the next time you rub shoulders with someone who objects to your perspective or daringly tells you you're wrong, know that their truth may be based on misinformation, but so could yours.

Every day we learn. Every day after we have the ability to bestow knowledge and wisdom. When doing so, we have to be on the lookout for those darn chameleons, cause it might just be a fern.
