Dear Township High School District 113 Community,

I am very honored and excited to serve as the next Superintendent of District 113, beginning July 1, 2024. District 113 has an outstanding reputation for excellence and I am looking forward to furthering efforts to see and promote excellence in each student in the District. I’m also looking forward to collaborating with our leaders, staff, and sender districts, partnering with parents and caregivers, and joining with community partners to enhance student engagement and growth. 

While my professional background in education in the Chicagoland area is fairly extensive, my parents and members of my home community in Ardmore, Pennsylvania were my first, and the most significant, “educators” in my life. Education was always a priority in my home and my parents always challenged my siblings and me to use our education to learn more about ourselves and to find ways to contribute to others and the world in meaningful ways. Growing up, I was blessed to have caring and supportive teachers and staff members who took an interest in me. I also found spaces of belonging and affirmation in fine arts, music, and athletics. While the educational landscape has changed since I was a student, what remains is the importance and value of creating opportunities for students to learn more about themselves, to explore their interests, and to find what they are passionate about.

As I make the transition to District 113, I will be attending some Board and Board Committee meetings. Tonight, I will be attending to listen to the Highland Park High School Principal search update along with the profile the search firm has developed with your input. In addition, I will spend some time visiting with students and staff at Deerfield High School and Highland Park High School beginning on March 8. This spring, I will spend some time meeting with many key stakeholders to listen and learn more about this great District. Additional visits and opportunities for school, district, and community engagement will be scheduled for dates following Spring Break. Whether we connect during one of my visits this spring or when I am officially in place this summer, I look forward to engaging with you in the near future. 

Thank you to all who have extended a greeting and warm welcome. I am grateful. I’m looking forward to building relationships and sharing in the District’s goals that support the education of students in District 113 and the staff who work so hard to serve them.

Me siento muy honrada y emocionada por servir a partir del 1º de julio de 2024, como la próxima Superintendente del Distrito 113. El Distrito 113 cuenta con una excelente reputación de excelencia y espero continuar con los esfuerzos para ver y promover la excelencia en cada estudiante del Distrito. También espero tener el placer de colaborar con nuestros líderes, nuestro personal, y los distritos emisores, asociarme con los padres, las madres y los proveedores de cuidado, y unirme a los socios comunitarios para mejorar la participación y el crecimiento estudiantil.

Si bien mi experiencia profesional en educación en el área de Chicago es bastante extensa, mis padres y los miembros de mi comunidad natal en Ardmore, Pensilvania, fueron mis primeros y más significativos “educadores” en la vida. La educación siempre fue una prioridad en mi hogar y mis padres siempre nos retaron, a mis hermanos y a mí, a usar nuestra educación para aprender más sobre nosotros mismos y para encontrar formas de contribuir a los demás y al mundo de manera significativa. Durante mi crecimiento, tuve la bendición de tener a maestros y miembros del personal atentos y alentadores que se interesaron en mí. También encontré espacios a los cuales pertenecer y de afirmación en las bellas artes, la música y el atletismo. Si bien el panorama educativo ha cambiado desde que yo fui estudiante, lo que permanece es la importancia y el valor de crear oportunidades para que los estudiantes aprendan más sobre sí mismos, exploren sus intereses, y encuentren lo que les apasiona.

Mientras hago la transición al Distrito 113, asistiré a algunas reuniones de la Junta y de los Comités de la Junta. Esta noche, asistiré para escuchar la actualización de la búsqueda de Director de la escuela Highland Park High School, además del perfil que la empresa de búsqueda ha desarrollado con sus comentarios. Además, a partir del 8 de marzo, pasaré tiempo visitando a los estudiantes y al personal de las escuelas Deerfield High School y Highland Park High School. Esta primavera, pasaré tiempo reuniéndome con muchas de las partes interesadas clave para escuchar y aprender más sobre este gran Distrito. Se programarán visitas y oportunidades adicionales para la participación de las escuelas, el distrito y la comunidad en fechas posteriores a las Vacaciones de Primavera. Ya sea que nos conectemos durante una de mis visitas esta primavera o cuando esté oficialmente en mi cargo este verano, espero tener el placer de interactuar con ustedes en un futuro cercano.

Espero tener el placer de desarrollar relaciones y de compartir las metas del Distrito, las cuales apoyan la educación de los estudiantes del Distrito 113 y al personal que trabaja tan arduamente para servirles.
