Dear VMLC Students, Volunteers, Supporters and Friends,
We can't thank you enough for your continued support and dedication. The reports of detained travelers at DFW and airports all across the country this weekend has put many in our VMLC family on edge.
At VMLC, we represent a very diverse community of individuals from all over the world who are dedicated to the mission of Changing Lives Through Literacy. We are grateful to VMLC's hundreds of compassionate and committed volunteers who make our students feel safe, welcome and respected. It is through the relationships built at VMLC that a network of understanding and support is created and sustained, so that our students can accomplish their goals for a better life for themselves and their families.
We truly cannot run our programs without our dedicated volunteers. We are deeply grateful to you for responding with positive and encouraging actions and words, helping us build a community of love and respect at VMLC.
I hope you will keep VMLC and the larger immigrant and refugee community both here in Dallas and around the world in your thoughts and prayers. I share my personal favorite, the Prayer of St. Francis, with you. Thank you again for helping us uphold the great work at VMLC!
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace, Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy;
Sincerely,
Sarah Papert
