Greetings
from Karen
|
 |
Hi everyone,
I can't believe that it's November already!! Where did this year
go?
I'm excited to share with you this great offer from the Chopra
Center.
What I love most about attending Chopra Center Events is the
LOVE...and sharing meditation, yoga, great food and lots of hugs
with new friends from all around the world. You will smile more,
laugh harder, breathe deeper and feel better than you have in
years. The speakers will inspire you and you will come home with a
new way of looking at yourself and the world around you.
So go ahead and check out the catalog and if you're not sure which
event to attend give Libby a call and she will help guide you to
the event that is right for you. The one closest to us in New
Mexico next year is Synchrodestiny in Sedona, AZ, May 18-22.
I'm planning to attend Journey Into Healing in Asheville, NC, in
June and the yoga teacher training in August and October.
I have attended all of the events listed in the catalog, with the
exception of Free to Heal, so if you have any questions please feel
free to contact me.
Namaste,
Karen

What's
Your Dosha, Baby?

 |
Dosha is a
Sanskrit word that translates as "mind-body constitution" or
"mind-body personality." According to ayurveda - the 5,000-year-old
"science of life" - there are five master elements or
mahabhutas that make up everything within our bodies and
everything outside of our bodies: space, air, fire, water, and
earth. Space carries all the aspects of pure potentiality -
infinite possibilities; air has the qualities of movement and
change; fire is hot, direct, and transformational; water is
cohesive and protective; and earth is solid, grounded, and
stable. Read more...

Cleanse
and Balance with Ginger Tea

Ginger
Tea
Ginger tea is a powerful cleansing drink
that mobilizes toxins and restore balance to the body. It also
benefits the digestive system and helps diminish cravings for sweet
and salty foods. The Chopra Center recommends drinking two to three
cups of hot ginger tea every day. Keep in mind, however, that
ginger slightly increases Pitta dosha, so avoid drinking large
amounts if your Pitta is out of balance.
To make one quart of ginger
tea:
Chop an unpeeled 2-inch piece of
whole ginger into coarse pieces and place in a 2- to 3-quart pot
with one quart of purified water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the
heat, allowing the tea to simmer for 15 minutes. Strain the tea and
store in a thermos bottle or glass jar.
To make one cup of ginger
tea:
Take a piece of whole, unpeeled
ginger root and grate 1 heaping teaspoon. Stir the ginger into a
cup of hot water and let steep for 2 minutes. Strain or let the
ginger settle at the bottom of the cup.
