CSUMB has been selected to receive funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration to help fund a new virtual startup incubator designed to serve entrepreneurs in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties. The $426,035 EDA grant, along with local matching funds, provides over $852,070 to fund the creation of Startup Monterey Bay Launchpad .

The UCSC Genomics Institute , which announced their new headquarters on Delaware in September, held a standing-room-only open house last Friday. Wow! I've been following the GI for years but I have to admit, the event knocked my socks off. The GI's cutting edge research is beyond what might have been only imaginable a few decades ago.
