Growing Fresh Food To Feed Kids In Our Community

THANK YOU! to the community gardens and members who went above and beyond this summer to not only grow and harvest fresh food for our kids but also for delivering it to our office every week!

Over 4,600 pounds of fresh food was donated from Carrboro Community Garden, Mt. Carmel Community Garden, UUMC Giving Garden, and Terrell's Creek Missionary Baptist, along with several talented local home gardeners.

Our kids and families enjoyed a variety of bell peppers, butternut squash, oranges, strawberries, lettuces and fresh herbs. And, we were able to send home fun recipes and nutritional information about some of the yummy treats!

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Paige Jones

Paige was a shift leader for our CSA for ALL program this summer volunteering every Tuesday afternoon. She jumped right in helping us create this shift and gracefully managed every new task, shift change, and challenge that came up.

There was one week where she was the only person there to get all 100 CSA for ALL boxes ready for delivery. Not only did she handle it like a pro but she stayed after her shift to set up the next shift - because she knew they were understaffed as well.
