Our visit with the Ithaca Free Clinic

In a collaborative effort to bridge the gap between theory and practice, our Chief Equity & Community Engagement Officer Gloria Coicou was joined by a group of Cornell MBA students, led by Carla Marie Ingrando, on a site visit to the Ithaca Free Clinic. Nestled in the heart of the community, the clinic has become a haven for those in need, providing compassionate and top-notch healthcare to individuals who might otherwise go without.

Upon arriving, the students were warmly welcomed by the executive director, Norbert McCloskey, whose passion for the clinic's mission was palpable. He led the group through a brief history lesson and talked about the various services offered by the clinic, shedding light on the comprehensive care they provide to the underserved population of Ithaca. Internal medicine, acupuncture, chiropractic care, optometry…the list goes on, it was quite impressive. Not surprising, the MBA students asked many questions relating to the business model because all services are 'free'. Like he always does, Norb answered the questions with wonderful, heartfelt stories.

The Ithaca Free Clinic operates with a small, dedicated team of professionals who are committed to...read full story, HERE

Thankuary

We believe so much in stewarding donors effectively that we’ve dedicated a day each year in January as Thankuary.

It is a day to give an extra dose of gratitude to our year-end donors with our friends. Several volunteers stopped in, enjoyed cookies and other treats, and provided a boost to acknowledgement letters.

We loved seeing them!

Donors generously give to the Community Foundation throughout the holiday season, and these volunteers helped us thank those donors.

Planning For Your New Year's Charitable Resolutions

Many people scramble at the end of the year to execute tax planning transactions, which is understandable. This approach often causes stress and frustration and leaves little time for a thoughtful, strategic evaluation of the various components that make up a comprehensive estate plan.

We encourage you to consult your financial and legal advisors early in the year. This helps you to make a comprehensive plan to include financial planning, retirement planning, tax planning, investments and wealth management, business succession planning, and evaluate wills and trusts as needs change.

Reach out to the team at your Community Foundation as you and your advisors evaluate the steps you’d like to take in 2024.

We’re here to help ensure that you achieve your charitable giving goals in the most tax-savvy and impact-minded way possible so that you can continue to help the causes you care about the most. Contact Chief Development Officer Nancy Massicci at nmassicci@cftompkins.org
