Successful 30 by 30 Conference highlights commitment to gender equity in engineering

On May 22, Engineers Canada hosted another successful 30 by 30 Conference. This impactful event brought together representatives from engineering regulators, educators, and employers to discuss and advance gender equity within the engineering profession. Through engaging presentations, workshops, panel discussions, and networking sessions, the engineering community demonstrated a strong commitment to transforming knowledge into actionable strategies.

Reflecting on the first decade of 30 by 30, attendees shared success stories and explored innovative ideas to accelerate progress towards the goal of achieving gender equity by 2030. The collaborative spirit and dedication exhibited during the event underscored the industry’s collective resolve to make the engineering profession more inclusive and welcoming for everyone.

ACEC-Canada was proud to continue its support of this event as a Trailblazer Sponsor. A special thank you to Allyson Desgroseilliers, ACEC-Canada Chair; Sabrina Martineau, ACEC-Canada Champion; Kevin Beechinor, ACEC-MB Board of Directors; Jeff O’Driscoll, ACEC-MB Board of Directors; and John Gamble, ACEC-Canada CEO, for their active participation and contributions to the conference. Their insights and leadership were invaluable in fostering meaningful discussions and promoting the 30 by 30 initiative.

We look forward to building on the momentum from the conference and to continued partnerships that will drive further advancements in gender equity within the engineering field. Thank you to all who attended and contributed to the success of this significant event.

Charting the path to infrastructure transformation with higher performing projects

At this year's Canadian Society of Civil Engineering (CSCE) annual conference, which focused on the theme of “Adapting to Climate, Technology, and Growth,” CEOs from three of the world’s top engineering firms shared their perspectives on delivering higher performing projects to meet the surging demand for infrastructure.

One example of the private sector’s leadership in designing and constructing better infrastructure was through its early adoption of the Envision® sustainable infrastructure framework and rating system. Envision gained momentum with the 2021 Envision Canada partnership between the CSCE and Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure. The associated Envision Sustainability Professional credential is quickly becoming an increasingly important designation for any professional involved in the industry.
