Flashing an LNW Twinstar Reel Controller Board
When converting a 3 or 5 Reel Twinstar game to OS Version # AOS0000313B you will need to upgrade the Reel Controller Board. The process is pretty straightforward but we'll try and simplify it a little more. Have a USB A to B handy and be prepared to remove at least the last reel if not more and keep them organized.
The updated Firmware file and instructions are can be downloaded from Technical Services > Flash Folder > Bally - Reel Controller Flash > TwinStar Stepper
Download and unzip the "DRIVERS" folder to your desktop. (Drag and drop from winzip or the zip folder.) Technical Services > Flash Folder > Download Utilities > Bally > BallyDFU > drivers
Install the "driver-atmel-bundle-7.0.712.exe"
Then go the EmotiveLightingController > vista-win7 and run the "dpinst_amd64.exe"
Lastly, for good measure, go back to the LCU folder and run that "dpinst_amd64.exe"
Next install the "DFUDownloader.exe" located in Technical Services > Flash Folder > Download Utilities > Bally > BallyDFU (If Windows blocks the program just click More Info and Run Anyway.)
Then you'll be ready to update to the new firmware in the Reel Controller Flash folder above.
Keep in mind if you replace a Reel Controller Board later down the line and see the error MECHANICAL REELS FIRMWARE MISMATCH you'll most likely need to upgrade the firmware.
