What does it mean to be Lutheran in a crucial election year?
A Review of ELCA Social Statements (six online webinars, live and recorded)
As our faith informs our day-to-day lives, Lutherans recognize that “faith is active in love [and] love calls for justice in relationships and structures of society” (ELCA, Social Statement on Church in Society, 1991). We also know the church is called to be a community that prays, deliberates, and acts together when it comes to complex social issues. In this election year, how might our Lutheran faith shape our thinking, acting, and voting on major issues?
Join us to learn and ponder timely social teachings of the ELCA and to learn tips for leading discussions in your own community. Our next event in the series is August 27th! Click here for more details. Register here.

September 7, 2024
Time: 11am-1pm
$18-25 per person
Location: TBD
Find out more HERE.
Join Blaxplanation and the Colorado Council of Churches for a lecture and meal around Faith, Food and
Fellowship.
The history of the American picnic is not only pies, sandwiches, gingham blankets and tart lemonades. Often used as spaces to terrorize Black Americans, the picnic as an event has a cruel side to go along with the American apple pie. But what was once used to cause harm, Black faiths and communities used to strengthen bonds, offer support, and develop fellowship with one another. This event will provide an opportunity to learn a fuller history and partake in the beauty and joy which develops from eating and being in fellowship with one another.
Speakers:
Adrian Miller, Soul Food Scholar and Executive Director of Colorado Council of Churches
Imam Abdur Rahil Ali, Northeast Denver Islamic Center
Rev. Dr. Lee H. Butler, Jr., President and CEO of Iliff School of Theology
Dr. Thomas S. Mayes, President of Greater Metro Denver Ministerial Alliance and Vice President of
