President's Message

Dear RSFBPW Ladies, Esteemed Guests, and Gracious Fairies:

In the luminous glow of June, our theme celebrates the mystical allure of fairies—those whimsical creatures whose delicate wings flutter on the breezes of imagination and possibility. Just as fairies weave their spells with a flick of their wands, we too harness our unique talents to conjure success and innovation in our entrepreneurial journeys.

This month, let us embody the spirit of the “Garden Fairy” tending to our business endeavors with the gentle care of a fairy tending her enchanted grove. Each connection we cultivate can blossom into a thriving partnership, enriching our community with a vibrant tapestry of ideas.

Embrace the radiant cheer of the “Sunshine Fairy”, whose sparkling laughter and luminous presence remind us to approach our days with joy and to brighten the corners where shadows dwell. Let her light guide you in nurturing warm, fruitful collaborations that glow with potential.

In the words of G.K. Chesterton, "Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten." In our world, these 'dragons' can be the challenges we face in business, and like the bravest of fairy-tale heroes, we are more than capable of overcoming them.

Amidst our enchanting endeavors, we also flutter our wings toward a heartwarming cause—our 2024 Charity for the Alabaster Jar Project. I invite you all to sprinkle a little fairy dust into our charity baskets, filling them with wine, chocolates, and a dash of summer magic. These baskets will carry our collective spirit and generosity, extending our fairy circle's warmth to those who need it most. When you donate a basket, you will also get additional tickets to place in the Raffle bags too. Your baskets should be filled with items worthy of gifting to others to help us raise money for our charity, the Alabaster Jar Project.

Let this June be a testament to the magic we can create when we unite under the banner of our dreams. With a sprinkle of fairy dust and a dash of daring, there's no limit to the enchantments we can achieve together.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR JUNE 20, FROM 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM to join us at the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club, for our RFBPW luncheon.

I look forward to seeing you June 20, by sprinkling your own fairy dust around at the meeting.

With sparkles and magic,

Jill Harris

Kelly Lyles - Alabaster Jar Project- Our 2024 Charity for RSFBPW

San Diego is the 8th largest city in the U.S. when it comes to issue of Human Trafficking, and not surprising, there are limited resources for survivors. So co-founders Susan Johnson, Nate Alcorn and Kyle Moss created and incorporated the Alabaster Jar Project. The mission is to provide housing and resources for survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. The Alabaster Jar Project began as a ministry of The Church at Rancho Bernardo and incorporated as a standalone nonprofit 501(c)3 in 2013, receiving tax exempt status in July of 2014.

It is now comprised of Grace House, a long-term residential program; a Resource Center, a drop-in center that provides clothing, toiletries, programming and Peer Support Group.

Kelly Lyles is holds a Master of Social Work and has over 15 years of experience in the social services field. She is experienced in working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, including adults and children with intellectual disabilities, foster youth, the LGBTQ+ community, and single mothers.

She has experience with Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, facilitating vocational assessments, psychosocial evaluations, program development and large caseloads of individuals with diverse backgrounds.

Purses for a Purpose

In December 2024, we will make a large financial donation to The Alabaster Jar Project. In addition to the donation which comes through our monthly Raffle Baskets, the RSFBPW women are going to sponsor a Purse Drive: Let's call it Handbags for Healing! Or Purses with a Purpose to create awareness for the victims of sex trafficking.

Purses with a Purpose! Handbags for Healing

We will be collecting purses during the coming months to support our charity, The Alabaster Jar Project further. We love this charity and want victims of sex trafficking to be given help to get back on their feet.

Inside the purses, the Alabaster Jar Project will place resource information so women who are victims and are afraid or do not know about the help that is available. These purses will be passed out while discretely containing the resource information while not triggering any alarms for victims involved in sex trafficking and want to escape from it. This will get community resource information into the hands of women in need.

We'd love for you to donate a new or used small purse or handbag during our meetings this year.

By tugging on your own heartstrings your gently worn or never used purse can save a victim of sex trafficking in San Diego County.

Shout-Outs and Testimonials

We may run out of time at our meetings to share our testimonials for each other's services, products, and community announcements. We encourage you to write your praise and mail an email or note to the member who you want to applaud. Send your friends a special email sharing your testimonial about the member you are highlighting. Post your Shout-Out on our RSFBPW Facebook page and on your own FB page.

We offer Shout-outs and testimonial time at the end of many of our meetings, however it depends on the time left after our speaker has concluded their presentation.
