PRESIDING POINTS
We are halfway through the year, and I feel we are light years away from where we were a year ago. With everything opening, I see “normal” returning to our everyday lives. Your TCD Board has been busy ensuring that the leagues, tournaments, and social events run smoothly for the rest of the year.
Our Captains and General Meeting will be at Brookhaven Country Club on Thursday, August 26th. The Captains Meeting will also be broadcast on Facebook Live for those of you who would rather stay home. The General Meeting which is where the general membership votes on bylaw changes will not be broadcast. The meeting is open to all members and is an opportunity to meet your TCD Board Members and voice any concerns or questions you may have.
Please remember that registration ends for ALL leagues on Tuesday, August 3rd. All registration must be done online, and your team is not considered rostered until your payment (through PayPal) has been received. If you have any questions, please contact our Placement Director, Suzanne Kim at placement@tcdtennis.org.

Would you like to volunteer to serve on the
TCD NOMINATING COMMITTEE
or to be a candidate for the
2022 TCD BOARD OF DIRECTORS?
The NOMINATING COMMITTEE has the responsibility of interviewing candidates for the 2022 Board of Directors and presenting the slate of Director nominees to the TCD General Membership for their vote. The time commitment required is approximately three days this fall for training and interviews of the Board candidates.
If you are interested in serving on the BOARD OF DIRECTORS, the TCD Bylaws, which can be found on the TCD website, outline each Director’s responsibilities and can help you determine which director position is the best fit for you. The TCD Board meets monthly. It is a “working” board which makes it a very rewarding experience.
The first step for any TCD VOLUNTEER POSITION is to submit an official VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FORM which can also be found on the TCD website. Complete the form, click on SUBMIT. I’ll let you know the next steps and you are on your way to serving the TCD membership.

PICKLEBALL
Registration has begun for both Ladies Doubles and Mixed Doubles Pickleball! Please keep an eye on the
TCD Pickleball website for a new Rules Document outlining the specific modifications to the Rules based on
adding Mixed Doubles League.

NEW TCD RULE
Your TCD Board of Directors approved the following rules. We have clarified the age restriction for all the leagues to hopefully be clearer for registration. The age has not changed. You just need to reach the minimum age before you can be rostered on a team.
The following rule applies to Ladies League, Mixed Doubles League, Pickleball Ladies and Mixed Pickleball.
Roster Requirements. Player Qualifications. “A player must reach twenty-one (21) years of age before being added to the roster during registration. A player who reaches twenty-one (21) years of age after registration but before the player add deadline, may be registered”.
The following rule applies to the 50’s Ladies league and the 60’s ladies league.
Roster Requirements. Player Qualifications. “A player must reach fifty (50) years of age before being added to the roster during registration. A player who reaches fifty (50) years of age after registration but before the player add deadline, may be registered.”

REGISTER FOR TCD FALL 2021!
Registration for the Fall season is now open and will close on Tuesday, August 3rd.
1. If you are a returning Spring 2021 team, the procedure has not changed. The captain or co-captain must log in to the website with her/his admin password and roster the team. If there is a new captain and/or co-captain, use the Captain Changeup function on your Admin page to make those changes. Then the new captain(s) can set up their own passwords to log in and roster the team.
2. If you are forming a new team, the procedure has not changed. Contact the Placement Director at placement@tcdtennis.org for a New Team Packet and follow the instructions.

FALL LADIES' TENNIS TOURNAMENT

The TCD Ladies’ Fall Tournament is Thursday, September 2! Registration will be open August 16 - 23. Register early! The spring tournament filled up in 24 hours. You must be on a roster of a registered Fall 2021 TCD team to sign up for the tournament.

IMPORTANT UPDATE TO FALL MIXED TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION DATE
URGENT UPDATE!! Due to the incredibly short turnaround time for participation shirts, the date for the tournament registration has changed! The new date to register for the FIRST EVER fall mixed doubles tournament is FRIDAY, JULY 23rd. I know that’s 3.5 weeks earlier than last reported, but after talking to vendors for our participation shirts, six days was just not reasonable…….(duh, on my part!).
Registration will end on Sunday, August 1st. Please register for the flight you played in during the spring season as that will be the flight you’ll be assigned to for the tournament. My sincere apologies for any inconvenience.
Registration will fill up quickly, so please register early to secure your spot! If you are a new team and not sure which flight to register for, please contact me and we will make sure you have a spot! THANK YOU AGAIN for understanding! I look forward to seeing y’all on the courts! Happy Summer!

TCD BYLAW AMENDMENTS
The Board of Directors is charged with the review and updating of its Bylaws annually. The 2021 Board approved the following changes to the governing Bylaws of the organization and will be presenting these to the General Membership for approval at our August 26th General Membership Meeting.
Purpose: To AMEND the sections of the TCD Bylaws that pertain to the following matters:
- The addition of a Mixed League Tennis Fall Event.
- The responsibilities of the Pickleball Director relative to the new Mixed Pickleball League.
- Specification of the Tournament Director’s responsibilities.

Article XI provides for the amendment of our Bylaws as follows: “These Bylaws can be amended at any regular General Membership meeting of TCD by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of those members present and voting, provided such proposed amendments have been published and/or electronically distributed to all members at least two (2) weeks prior to the Meeting.” Therefore, this official notification and publication of the proposed amendments as of July 19, 2021 meets/exceeds the two week requirement noted in Article XI.
