2016 GROCER of the YEAR
ALAN ALDEN, Trig's
Congratulations ALAN ALDEN, Trig's
the 2016 WGA Grocer of the Year!

Alan Alden, Vice President of Sales and Operations for T.A. Solberg, which operates six Trig's stores in northern Wisconsin, was surprised with the announcement that he has been selected as the 2016 Grocer of the Year, the WGA's highest honor.  Alan was nominated by Mark Maloney, Russ Davis Wholesale.
Alan and his wife Sandy

Alan has been with Trig's since 2003, but his 40+ year storied career spans four states and as many companies, that included owning his own store and various positions with Kwik Trip, Nash Finch and Fleming.  He has been actively and 100% involved in every level of the industry and brings extensive experience to the T.A. Solberg team with his incredible amount of knowledge of the grocery industry.  According to his nomination, "Alan is grocery:  he is passionate, a retailer, a fan...he is the industry!"

One of the many reasons Alan Alden was nominated for the 2016 Grocer of the Year award is because he is continuously searching for more innovative ways to serve customers, employees, and the community as a whole.  He recognizes the important role his associates play in the company's success, and he feels very strongly about recognizing their accomplishments and positive qualities.  Alan is continuously providing his associates with training programs, placement strategies, as well as opportunities for continuing education.  Alan is known for his "open door policy" with associates to address any company or personnel concerns they may have.

Community involvement is paramount for Alan and he leads by example.  He coordinates and heads many local charities, including various food drives, and encourages all of his associates to become involved in the community that also contributes to the T.A. Solberg success.  The grocery and business industry has also recognized Alan's unwavering dedication to his company and the industry, as he received the WGA's Excellence in Operations Award in 2009, and the Wausau community named the Wausau Trig's (Alan's home store) the 2015 Best Place to Shop for Groceries.
