There are 2 Guatemala Mission Trips Now!
A sixth mission trip to Guatemala in conjunction with Partners in Development is being organized for November 2022.
BUT ALSO, there is a second trip to Guatemala booked in the Partners in Development trip schedule for approximately Feb 5th to Feb 12th, 2023.
For the February trip, the focus is anticipated to be primary medical care, vision screening, cooking stove installation and possibly tutoring computer use, tutoring English and doing children's activities. I will be looking for all types of volunteers.
NOVEMBER TRIP dates are still approximately 11/5 to 11/15/2022, depending on flight schedules. Our work time in the villages will be 11/7 to 11/11/2022 from Monday to Friday. We will be extending the trip for a few days to be tourists in the city of Quetzaltenango before flying home from Guatemala City.
The medical people will be providing primary care to all ages. Non-medical volunteers will be doing vision screenings and ordering glasses for children. People needing eye surgery will be referred to Visualiza, a non-profit Guatemalan organization.
Our travel team is in need of non-medical volunteers to do the vision screening with a Lion's Club vision screener and ordering of glasses. You will be trained before leaving the US. There may also be opportunities for you to also assist with tutoring computer program and teaching English.
We would like each Christ Church family to consider sponsoring a pair of glasses ($30-$50), or more if your heart is so moved, for the children in need of better vision.
