The Washington County Arts Council hosts the virtual exhibits
“Fault Lines” by Katherine Fishburn and 
“Kaleidoscope” by Denny Clark during the month of April 2021.
The 2021 Maryland Arts Summit: Art of the Community is currently accepting proposals for video content, in a variety of formats, addressing specific arts communities within the Maryland creative ecosystem that connect with the Summit’s themes. All accepted proposals will be available for viewing after the virtual Summit on June 3rd and 4th.
There is a $500 stipend for each session, which includes preparation and the submission of session recording.
The deadline to submit a proposal is April 27, 2021 by midnight.

C&O Canal 50th Anniversary Photo Contest Exhibit
from May 6, 2021 through June 1, 2021.
The exhibit opens in the Galleries with social distancing & wearing masks on May 6, 2021
and will be available online virtually beginning May 8, 2021.

Robinwood Players to perform “Spelling Bee.”

Hagerstown Community College’s Robinwood Players will present “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” on April 23, 24, and 25, in the Kepler Theater on HCC’s main campus.

Show times are 8 p.m. on Friday, April 23, and Saturday, April 24, with a matinee performance on Sunday, April 25, at 2:30 p.m. Directed by Alyssa Little, this musical comedy follows an eclectic group of six tweens vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime.

General admission ticket prices range from $12.50 to $15.50, but HCC students, faculty, and staff can attend for free with a valid HCC ID. Seating is limited and masks are required.

Virtual Playmakers, a project of The Potomac Playmakers of Hagerstown, MD, presents three short, original plays live online: "Miles to Sleep Before I Go" by Randy Gross, directed by Katie Peacock; "Just Another D Word" by Lori M. Myers, directed by Maggie Dunn; and "2021, A Sea Odyssey" by Jeff Dunne, directed by Becky Abramowitz. A talk-back with playwrights, directors and actors will follow performances.

HCC to hold spring student art exhibit

Hagerstown Community College will hold its spring student art exhibit from Thursday, April 29, through Wednesday, May 5, in the Kepler Center on HCC’s main campus. Community members are invited to visit the exhibition and should be aware that safety protocols will require masks to be worn and limits on capacity.
The spring student art exhibit will feature a broad array from multiple disciplines produced by the students enrolled in the visual art studio courses this spring including drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, jewelry, and ceramics. Additionally, works from capstone students Victoria Young and Shayia Booker will be on display.
The art exhibit is open daily to the public from April 29 through May 5, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, contact Margaret Yaukey at 240-500-2221, or email mayaukey@hagerstowncc.edu.
