A FREE Learning Adventure all About Food

Are you curious about food, where it comes from, and who produces it?

The Teacher Agriculture Expedition is an action-packed, hands-on food and agriculture tour for educators to learn about food grown in Saskatchewan and meet the people who produce it!

You will gain the tools, knowledge, and connections to engage students in learning through their personal connection to food. 

Transportation, accommodations, and meals included. Only 20 spots available.
Connections in Agriculture
GRADES K TO 5 | ELA, Hlth, Sci, SS
Students explore the connections they have to the world around them through a hands-on activity that fosters critical thinking.

Where Beef Comes From
GRADE 3 | Careers, Sci
Students learn about beef production in Saskatchewan and the valuable role beef plays in their daily diet. Extend learning with a lesson plan and teacher guide download.

A website with kid-friendly information on the past, evolution, present, and future of agriculture. It is highly interactive, and features teacher quizzes and lessons.

Before the Plate (EN/FR)
GRADES 9 TO 12 | Careers, Hlth, PAA, Sci, SS
A documentary about the stories and people behind where our food comes from and how it gets to our plate. Includes a Student Guide and Teacher Guide.

Cooking Up Chicken
GRADES 9 TO 12 | Careers, Hlth, PAA, Sci
A 10/30 Food Studies unit for students to learn about food safety, preparation, and cooking. Includes recipes, lab activities, student worksheets, and a marking rubric.

Food Farms
GRADES 3 & 4 | Province-wide

Tisdale & Norquay area teachers! Students plant seeds in the spring, then return in the fall to harvest their crops! Each half-day visit students work through fun, hands-on stations about different aspects of agriculture. No in-person location near you? Register for our Virtual Food Farm!

Students explore many exciting careers in agriculture through hands-on activities at stations hosted by professionals from a variety of agricultural sectors. Lunch is provided.
