Out and About With Scout and Archie

The Details Matter

I am definitely a proud helicopter parent with Scout and Archie. I research and research everything from their food, to leashes, to who stays with the pups when we are out of town, to what vitamins they get. I believe the details matter.

It was the main reason I joined Compass back in 2018. As a firm, Compass realizes that all the small details matter when I'm gifted the opportunity to help my clients fulfill their dreams when buying and selling homes.

One of the ways Compass continues to lead where details matters comes with the investment the firm puts into website visitors. As of February 2024, Compass continues to be #1 in web traffic with over 20 million Manhattan website visitors in the last few months (Nov 2023 to Feb 2024), significantly more than any other firm. The details matter, the extra effort matters - because my clients really matter!

This New NYC Subterranean Lounge Is Downtown's Next It-Girl Hangout

Who can resist the charm of a vibey new cocktail lounge in Manhattan’s it-girl neighborhood? We certainly can’t. Hidden below Jajaja Mexicana in the heart of the West Village is Bar Nena, a sexy subterranean speakeasy with Mexico City-inspired flair.

Once downstairs and past the front entrance, the essence of CDMX is captured through contemporary and classic Mexican design elements (think: terracotta-tiled floors, lush greenery, and bold colors). A cave-like atmosphere is revealed through raw stone walls accented by warm orange and golden-hued ambient lights that illuminate the cozy space. Banquet seating swathed in velvet red fabric lines an entire wall, setting the scene for intimate conversations. Its six-seat bar top steals the show with its aesthetic recessed shelves sporting a curation of fermented and agave spirits. Original light fixtures droop from the low, wood-planked ceiling, while a glittering disco ball adds another dimension to the already suave ambiance.

Annie Leibovitz Lists Modern Village Loft for $8.5 Million

Portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz is letting go of another Manhattan property.

Priced at $8.5 million, the West Village property features a 60-foot-long ribbon of steel windows overlooking the Hudson River. The two-bedroom, three-bathroom dwelling is currently set up as a photography studio: one of the bathrooms has been converted to house a huge Epson printer, the primary bedroom is an office, and the would-be dining table is pictured with a suite of office chairs in listing photos.

A New Spot That Doesn’t Want to Be Just Another Wine Bar

A duo that first met at Wildair and worked side-by-side at Cool World have ambitions to buck some of the homogeneity of wine bar menus in Manhattan. That’s the point of Demo, opening at 34 Carmine Street.

Demo will serve dishes like beef tartare with soy-cured egg yolks, Crab Casino with Ritz crackers, a salad with miso-dijon vinaigrette, half chicken with Tokyo turnips vin juane — plus, an adult banana pudding with brown butter, coconut, toasted almonds for dessert.

No Photos, Please: Inside the Frog Club, A New Ultra-Secretive NYC Restaurant

A high-profile chef has opened a top-secret exclusive restaurant in NYC where diners have to put stickers on their phone cameras and follow a list of rules.

Liz Johnson, the mastermind chef behind Los Angeles' iconic upscale restaurant Horses, has opened a very unique new restaurant in Manhattan's West Village.

The buzzy new spot is called Frog Club and it includes all kinds of weird quirks - including a tall, slender doorman who presses stickers over the cameras of people arriving to dine.

The restaurant has taken over a space on Bedford Street that was previously occupied by Chumley's for a long time.

Perfect Day in NYC’s Village: Dave Hill

As Dave Hill strolls around New York City’s quaint West Village with his sweet boxer-pitbull mix Luci, it’s clear that the comedian/musician/author/radio host/artist/fashion designer is in his element. “I always think of New York as the biggest city in America, but it always seems like just a bunch of small towns,” he says. Proving his point, numerous people greet him in a neighborly way as he expertly navigates the confusing jumble of streets. He’s lived here since 2006, and his long-term resident status means he’s having a hard time picking out only a handful of special places in the area to show me today.

As we stroll through NYC, Hill seems content to spend this mild winter afternoon with his idea of a perfect day in his beloved neighborhood.

March 10 - I Ride for the 14th Time to Cure Cancer

On March 10, I’ll be taking part in a Cycle for Survival event in NYC to ride and raise money for rare cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). This will be my 14th Ride!

BUT THIS YEAR IS DIFFERENT! Last year, a dear friend of mine and someone who has been on my CYLE team for years was diagnosed with cancer - and was treated and MSK! I knew in that moment, we can never stop the fight to beat cancer - for our family, our friends and for all those we will never meet! This event really matters!

If this event speaks to you like it does me, click the link below to learn more or make a donation. MANY THANKS!
