The Allentown School District is excited to present our comprehensive Strategic Plan, entitled, Lighting the Way: A Blueprint for Innovation and Excellence 2030. This plan represents our love, hope, unwavering dedication, and investment in the 16,700 students and the 2,500 staff entrusted in their care in the Allentown School District.


We are targeting 2030 for the implementation of our Strategic Plan to ensure a comprehensive and forward-thinking approach in executing the necessary strategic actions. The complexity and scope of implementation require a phased approach to include thorough planning and broad-based stakeholder engagement. This extended timeline beyond the standard five years, allows us to integrate data-driven and research-based strategies effectively, ensuring equity and access for all students while supporting continuous improvement.

Superintendent's Reading League

The Superintendent's Reading League is BACK!


ASD has once again partnered with Beanstack, a user-friendly platform to track reading progress throughout the summer.


As a District, we are dedicated to fostering a lifelong love for reading, where all stakeholders read to inform, gain knowledge, and enhance creativity and imagination.

New IBEW Job Training Program


Over the past 14 weeks, a dozen Lehigh Valley young adults have participated in a new pre-apprenticeship program at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 375 in Allentown.


The program, which was funded through a state grant, exposes Allentown high school students to the skills necessary to become an electrician. In the coming weeks, they’ll receive training to be certified in first aid and CPR. They’ll also practice their algebra in preparation for an upcoming math and reading test, a necessary step to be considered for admission to the union’s five-year apprenticeship program to become a journeyman electrician.

The Allentown School District partnership with Student Transportation of America (STA) began with student transportation for summer learning programs.
