FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Greetings to Our Hub on Canal Supporters

It's August already! That means that the kids will be headed back to school soon and it's time to start keeping a closer eye on the tropics. It also means that our Founders Gallery will be filled this month with the artistic creations of our summer campers. The exhibition will launch on 1st Saturday, August 3rd. We had a wonderfully successful summer camp and I know you'll enjoy seeing this collection of some of the work that the campers produced.

In keeping with the back to school theme, August isn't just for kids to learn. It's also a good time to think about lifelong learning. After a relatively quiet time for classes and workshops at The Hub over the last couple of months, August heralds a restart of a fuller teaching schedule. Our workshop lineup for the month is listed below. Remember that members enjoy discounted pricing on workshops. Please visit our website for a full schedule of classes. Sign up for a class or a workshop. You'll learn or hone a skill and have fun at the same time.

Finally, in our ongoing effort to keep you informed about what the Hub is up to, we debut a new feature this month. Just below these comments you'll see a button that says August 2019 Monthly Flyer. If you click on it you'll open a pdf version of our takeaway flyer. If you are a regular visitor to The Hub (I hope that's all of you!), you'll know the flyer is our most popular printed piece. The flyer lists everything happening at The Hub for the month in greater detail than we can display in this newsletter. Print it if you'd like to keep as a handy reference and I hope to see you several times at The Hub in August.
Richard England, President

Back to the Future

Has there ever been a more fun romp through the past?  Back to the Back to the Future  starring Michael J Fox is as enjoyable today, more than 30 years after its initial release in 1985, as when it took a 30-year ride back to the 1950s. With hilarious references to Ronald Reagan, Tab cola, and the golden age of television,  Back to the Future  holds up well upon multiple viewings .   (more)
