Islamic State's Amaq Agency relayed a report on two separate attacks on military targets in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique on 19 and 20 February. Allegedly, 17 soldiers died and a cache of ammunition seized. As TRAC Senior Analyst Daniel Lebowitz noted, the length of time between attacks and claims demonstrates not only the remoteness of the location of Islamic State Central Africa (Wilayat Wasat Ifriqiyah) but also the highlights limited access that Ahlu Sunnah Wa-Jamo/Ansar al-Sunna (Shabaab Cult) has with Islamic State Central Command.
