Following the Baker Administration update yesterday and today's update from Mayor Walsh, NEMPAC continues to adhere to all guidelines in place as we all brace for the challenges of re-opening ahead. We will keep you updated in the coming weeks on our summer program plans.
This past weekend, we had another wonderful Saturday of "Opera from the Balcony" at
Tresca Restaurant
celebrating the
Joy of Music
. and we thank Tresca for their partnership. Read more about how our singers serenaded people in the North End on
Boston.com
.
Thanks to the sponsorship of North End Against Drugs, this Friday evening at 6 p.m., our virtual
Open Mic Night

—
we at NEMPAC believe we are ALL musicians and performers. Go ahead and sign up
here
to perform!
In less than two weeks we'll celebrate our
2020 Virtual Perform-a-thon

This week we’re bringing you a classic acting game you can do at home with your budding Broadway stars!
This is a great game to work on quick thinking, storytelling, focus, and teamwork.
One Word Story
Players: 2+
- Sit face to face or in a circle and decide on a title for your story
- One person will start the story with just one word and the next person adds to it, and so on!
- The goal is to tell a story saying just one word at a time
The key is to listen to one another, focus, and work as a team!
Note: For younger students, try telling a story that they already know one word at a time.

"The Joy of Music" series continues as
NEMPAC
and
Tresca
have partnered to serenade Boston's North End from Balcony 77 on Hanover Street every Saturday, which was captured last weekend by
boston.com
.
Don't miss next performance on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 4 p.m.!
The response from hearing live music was wonderful as passerbys show their pleasure with waves and applause. We hope you'll enjoy it!

Educational Programs Director
Allie Meek-Carufel read
“Hansel and Gretel: Tales From Around the World”

Turn a Negative Into a Positive.
Mr. Bob Cargill and his wife, Barbara, ventured in town the other day....
"We love Boston. We miss the city. Walking down Hanover Street in the North End, we heard music. Not just any music, though. This was opera music. Live opera music. Looking up, we saw a singer on the Ray Bourque Table 77 balcony at the Italian restaurant, @Tresca. What a pleasant surprise. Along with many others on the sidewalk, all social distancing, we listened for a while and enjoyed the music. Good for Tresca and the North End Music & Performing Arts Center for treating the neighborhood and passersby like us to such a ridiculously awesome performance. . . This was a great way for Tresca and NEMPAC to pivot during the pandemic and turn a negative into a positive. Kudos, props and bravo to anybody who had anything to do with this very special moment."

Thank you, Bob, for sharing your candid insight and words of encouragement!
