Reflections from our Fellows in the Philippines!

"September was a busy and insightful month with GSS! Throughout our time here, we have been able to meet the GSS family and begin to familiarize ourselves with the topics we’ll be focusing on throughout this upcoming year! We were also able to accompany Manang Elizabeth on her monthly farm visits across Benguet. We absolutely loved getting to meet all the farmers and learn about their agricultural practices, seed saving traditions, hardships, and joys as Indigenous and organic farmers. Our conversations with the farmers have inspired us to continue learning about various aspects of organic farming in the Philippines by conducting further research while in Baguio." - Marissa Mejia

"After several weeks of postponements due to rainy weather conditions, we had the opportunity to represent GSS at Baguio City’s Eco-Waste and Sustainability Expo. The two day long expo was a great opportunity for us to connect with others from local organizations that are doing related work. In our booth, we were able to sell 116 seed packets from seeds that were saved by GSS farmers! We look forward to continuing to get to know more people throughout this network as we dive deeper into our work" - Mandy Qua
