An Answer to Less Traffic: Carpool
Louis A. Merlin, Ph.D., published a research in the
Journal of the American Planning Association, that found the solution to reducing traffic congestion is to implement more pooled-ride services like car-pooling or public transit.
Merlin, author and an assistant professor in the School of Urban and Regional Planning in FAU's College for Design and Social Inquiry, uncovered that the potential for two-passenger ride pooling is close to 100 percent of trips in most cities.

DOR Launches Audacious Initiative
The Division of Research has set an ambitious goal: to become thee best research support unit in the country.
To get there, this week the division started a series of lunch-hour workshops to seek faculty input and ideas for improvement. Nearly 30 faculty members attended workshops on the Boca and Davie campuses.

Young Investigator Award
Adele Stewart, Ph.D., a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Randy D. Blakely, Ph.D., executive director of the FAU Brain Institute, earned a Young Investigator Award from the Brain and Behavioral Research Foundation National Alliance for Research in Schizophrenia and Affective Disorders (NARSAD). This prestigious award is for young neuroscientists and is only the second to be awarded to a postdoc at FAU.
