You will bring that pass (either printed or on your mobile device) during Expo hours to receive your official bib number. If you have not received your Pass, please visit the Athlete Services desk at the Expo.
2) Wear Your Bib: Wear your bib on the outermost layer of clothing and make sure it’s clearly visible at all times! REMEMBER: Bib numbers are not transferable nor exchangeable. No one else may wear your bib number.
3) Explore the Expo: After getting your bib number, explore this year's expo featuring sponsor booths and the largest adidas Boston Marathon store in history!

Additionally, anyone who develops any symptoms must avoid public activity except for going to get a COVID-19 test.

How Much Protein Do Runners Need?
|
|
Strength athletes have long hailed protein’s benefits. But endurance runners, not so much. As it turns out though, protein is just as important for distance runners as it is for weightlifters — aiding in tissue repair, exercise recovery, injury prevention, immune function and the production of oxygen-carrying red blood cells.

Check out some tips on how to meet your protein needs from experts at healthcare company Abbott, title sponsor of the Abbott World Marathon Majors.
1. Regularly eat whole foods.
2. Consume protein throughout the day, not just at one meal.
3. Focus on energy-efficient protein sources, including lean meats, low-fat dairy and eggs.
4. Get protein in your body within an hour of finishing a workout.

7) Athletes' Village & The Start: Upon arriving in Hopkinton, you can use facilities, grab water, and stretch. Race officials will provide directions within Athletes' Village, and announce when it is your turn to depart for the start. It is a .7 mile walk to the start line from Athletes' Village.
8) What's On Course: Poland Spring Water and Lemon Lime Gatorade Endurance Formula stations will be set up at every mile along the course beginning at mile two. Stations will be on both sides of the road. Three Maurten Hydrogel Depots will be located at mile 11.8 on the Wellesley town line; mile 17 in Newton; and at mile 21.5 just after Boston College. Maurten’s Gel 100 (non-caffeinated) and Gel 100 CAF 100 (caffeinated) will be available at all three locations. 26 medical stations will be located along the course staffed with a variety of medical professionals.
9) Family Meeting Area: Prior to starting your race, be sure to make a plan with loved ones on where and when to reunite post-race. The Family Meeting area is located on Stuart Street between Berkeley and Clarendon Streets, and will be labeled by last name.
10) HAVE FUN! We're excited for you to take part in the 126th Boston Marathon, and can't wait to present you the iconic unicorn medal at the finish line!

Take Part in a Boston Marathon Sports Medicine Research Study
|
|
You are invited to participate in the sports medicine research study “Energy Availability, Health, and Performance among Boston Marathon 2022 Athletes” survey: available at this link, before Marathon Monday. Study participation is voluntary, and involves a confidential, brief (15-minute) survey to help the sports medicine community better understand the health issues facing endurance athletes. Dr. Kristin Whitney, Dr. Kate Ackerman, and the research team at the Division of Sports Medicine at Boston Children's Hospital (a Harvard Medical School academic hospital) are leading this research initiative with the goal of better supporting health and performance in the marathoner community. This survey asks questions about dietary habits, basic health, injury history, training routines, and running goals. For those who consent to participate, confidential survey responses will be compared with athlete health and performance results, with the aim of understanding how pre-race factors may affect marathoners’ outcomes. All information will be fully confidential, de-identified, and used for research purposes only.
