We are pleased to announce that Northwest Michigan Works! will adopt Newton's Road Career Investigator as their primary career pathway exploration platform to support individuals as they learn more about careers that are in demand across the region.

Employers from northwest Lower Michigan are encouraged to join a virtual information session on November 15 to learn about the application process for the Going Pro Talent Fund (Talent Fund). This innovative training fund has approximately $55 million dollars available statewide this year to help businesses train their workforce. The session will include information about some significant changes made this year to the Talent Fund online application process. The information session will run from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. You will use resin to seal the work, creating a permanent and lasting festive design. Works will be ready to take home after a day of curing.

Munson CEO to Launch Community Speaker Series

The public is invited to attend a presentation by Munson Medical Center President and CEO Matt Wille beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15 at the Historic Elk Rapids Town Hall (The HERTH, located at 401 River Street). Wille, who joined Munson Medical Center in September of 2019, will speak about improvements to Munson’s new Pediatric Center and Stroke Center. His presentation, hosted by the Rotary Club of Elk Rapids, will run approximately 45 minutes with time for questions and answers to follow. Admission is free with donations accepted. The Rotary Club plans to host a speaker each month at The HERTH during the coming year, so a schedule will be published on it in January. Lions Club Accepting Fall Grant Applications

Deadline, Tuesday, November 15

The Elk Rapids Lions Club is currently accepting Organizational Grant Request applications this fall for community projects that support the Club's mission of "serving the community." Applications will only be accepted if they are received between now and Tuesday, Nov. 15.

The Organizational Grant Requests should be from Elk Rapids and surrounding areas.

“This process gives us the ability to proactively fundraise over and above our annual events as we become aware of special community needs,” said club president Dave Lein.

Individual Medical and Emergency Assistance:

The Lions Club also accepts requests and responds to emergency assistance from individuals for eyeglasses, hearing aids, and other emergency-related needs throughout the year.

The Elk Rapids Lions Club has been actively supporting community projects since 1969.

Current hours are noon to 4 pm on Saturdays and 2 - 4 pm on Sundays and other times by appointment.
