Through Their Eyes
PHOTO COLLAGE by Korina Mota: HAWAII
Korina Mota is serving as a Taskforce Teacher's Aide at Hawaiian Mission Academy Maui. She submitted these photos of a recent classroom assignment. She says, “The students at Hawaiian Mission Academy Maui love exploring almost as much as they enjoy recess or P.E.! For science class, we were exploring the microscopic world God created for us and then drew our observations. Many found little critters in the garden while others explored the trees, bushes, and even the ground. They were all so fascinated by their findings! They couldn't wait to share them with the rest of the class."

MALAWI
Till Death Do Us Part
By Sharon Pittman

“To go or not to go?” That was the question! We had just been informed that John my husband had idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a terminal disease, and he had anywhere from six months to two years to live. To hear that was like a kick in the gut! After collecting our breath (literally), and crying together we refocused our future on the eternal.
Thirty-eight years ago we pledged at our wedding service, “To become one to better serve the Lord!” That motto has guided each of our decisions throughout our many years of marriage. After we fasted and prayed about John’s illness and our lifelong commitment to mission work, it seemed clear that the Lord was leading us to serve as AVS volunteers in Malawi where I was to serve as the University Vice-
PALAU
The Best Decision Ever
By Margie Mae Pomoy, MDiv

I have been teaching 8th grade since August 2017. I first came to Palau as a Bible worker back in October 2016. It was the job I was praying for after my graduate studies. But I guess the Lord had other plans for me in Palau. When the Principal and Vice Principal of Palau SDA Elementary School learned that I was a teacher by profession, they wanted me to work for the school. I said No to them twice. I didn’t take a Master’s in Divinity just to teach elementary students! Or so I thought! They prayed and asked God for me to teach, and I prayed about my decision as I didn’t want to leave my mission field. They came and asked me again, a third time. They said they needed an 8th grade teacher who can give discipline and spirituality to 8th grade students. These two words hit me as these

Increasing Processing Centers throughout NAD
By Ernest Hernandez

Last month I had the privilege of attending the grand opening of the Burman Ministry Centre (BMC) in Alberta Canada. Among other services to the SDA Church in Canada as well as collaboration with the Burman University missions office, BMC offers an advanced recording studio and social media resources. We are honored to begin to partner with Kevin Kiers and his team in their missions outreach across the Union and around the world.

I also was able to share with the Burman University student missions team during their missions week emphasis. We congratulate Chaplain Massiel Davila-Ferrer and her team for the great work they do at Burman University.

Currently our office partners with 14 processing centers throughout the Division. These include the SDA Universities, Guam Micronesia Conference and now BMC. As processing centers, part of their work is to recruit, screen and provide support for their missionaries, foreign and domestic.

Our work to reach our division and the world is greatly enhanced as we partner with these mission processing centers. We look forward to collaboration with other NAD church organizations. Together and by God’s grace we can effectively organize large numbers of willing and talented missionaries to impact the world with the Christ centered message of hope and wholeness.

Ernest Hernandez is the Director of the North American Division Office of Volunteer Ministries.
Devotional
From Canada to Egypt: Joseph’s Story
By Alena Jurek

School activity day! Every year on the holiday celebrating the prophet Mohammed’s birthday, the Nile Union Academy Student Association plans a day of sports and fun activities. Morning dawned; a beautiful splash of colors painted the sky. As I walked from my second floor apartment to the school building, I never dreamed how much the day would hold.

We began with a short devotional, followed by instructions about the day’s activities. The students were bouncing! Excited and ready to go, they impatiently waited for the fun to start. Oh, what anticipation! The kids crowded together and pushed each other as they got up to begin the activities.

Five activity stations were scattered across the school. This first section of the day found each class, ESL through Grade 12, competing as a class against the other classes. At each station, the kids raced to see who could do the best and the fastest. Ripples of laughter floated on the air. Smiling faces and happy chatter were aplenty. Spirits were mounting high! A quick lunch was rapidly devoured, and the students rushed to pick up their activities where they left off.

Late in the afternoon, the students were happily playing sliding tic-tac-toe. A long strip of greenhouse-like plastic was laid out on
