A Message from the City Manager
Agoura Hills Community:
As we step into the heart of summer, I am delighted to share the exciting events and activities we have planned for July. Our community thrives with vibrant cultural and recreational events that bring us together.
This month, we have a stellar lineup of movies and concerts in the park, as well as our highly anticipated Summer Art Show. These events provide opportunities for us to connect, enjoy, and celebrate the arts and culture that make Agoura Hills a one-of-a-kind city.
And, be sure to mark your calendars for a truly unique event on July 7, when we will host the Conejo Valley's first-ever drone show at our Concert in the Park at 6 p.m. This will be an unforgettable experience, combining music and mesmerizing drone displays in the night sky.
As we enjoy these festivities, it's important to remember the safety of our community. Fireworks are illegal in Agoura Hills, and the Los Angeles County Fire Department strongly encourages families to attend public fireworks shows conducted by State-licensed pyrotechnicians. This ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Let's have a wonderful and safe summer, cherishing the moments we spend together and the beauty of our city.
Warm regards,
Nathan Hamburger
City Manager

Bulk it... don't dump it!
Are you aware that WM has a bulky item pick-up program? Residential and multi-family complex property owners can contact WM to have bulky items (i.e., couches, desks, white goods, etc.) picked up from your home. Each residential property is permitted four bulky item pick-ups per year. Residents can elect to have two items picked up twice per year or 4 items picked up once per year. Scheduling a pick-up is as easy as contacting WM at 805-522-9400.
Simply placing items on the street or sidewalk is considered “illegal dumping” or “littering” and is prohibited by local and state law. Last year WM responded to 48 illegal dumping reports. Let’s reduce illegal dumping reports down to zero!

Bees, Bees, and more Bees!
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, bees, wasps, and hornets are most abundant in the warmer months of summer! Although they are found throughout the United States, it seems as though they have increased their populations here in Agoura Hills! Here are some safety tips if you should encounter them, including hives, or swarms.
1. Wear light-colored, smooth-finished clothing.
2. Wear clothing to cover as much of the body as possible.
3. Avoid wearing scents of any sort when hiking or working outdoors.
4. Avoid flowering plants when possible.
5. Keep outside areas clean. Social wasps thrive in places where humans discard food.
6. Remain calm and still if a single stinging insect is flying around. (Swatting at an insect may cause it to sting.)
7. If you are attacked by several stinging insects at once, RUN quickly to get away from them. (Bees release a chemical when they sting, which may attract other bees.)
- Go indoors.
- A shaded area is better than an open area to get away from the insects.
- If you are able to physically move out of the area, do not to attempt to jump into water. Some insects (particularly Africanized Honey Bees) are known to hover above the water, continuing to sting once you surface for air.
8. If a bee comes inside your vehicle, stop the car slowly, and open all the windows.
