It’s our 50th Anniversary year and we are celebrating in big ways!

Starting next week, our Wednesday E-news will have a new summer look to it – all a part of our 50th! We will only include new and current events so as to make it easier to read. We think you are going to love the new format! You can always find information about everything that is going on via our website if you need more details. And, as always, feel free to call our church office if you have a question at 480-948-1234. We are here to help!

BUILDING FUND PLEDGE

The Building Fund pledge year begins June 1. We continue to have fixed and ongoing financial needs such as our mortgage, utility bills, and campus repair and upkeep. 

We ask that you prayerfully consider how you can serve by continuing your Building Fund pledge commitment for 2024-25. If you wish your pledge to remain the same, you do not need to contact us.

MEMORY CAFÉ @ La Casa de Cristo

You are not alone! Join us every Wednesday in the month of June and also on July 24th and 31st from 10:30am -11:30am. We will NOT meet the first 3 Wednesdays in July due to VBX. This is a unique opportunity for caregivers to attend a support group while their loved ones enjoy safe and fun activities just a room away. Care partners participate in stimulating conversations about the challenges of caregiving in educational and support sessions. The care-receivers will take part in engaging experiences provided by professional caregivers. There’s something for everyone – from art and music, to stories, chair yoga, dancing, reading, and reminiscing about favorite memories. Memory Café will meet in Classrooms A & B from 10:30–11:30am. For more information, call Jean Knowling @ 480-948-1234 or jknowling@lacasadecristo.com.

Parenting Aging Parents

Major life decisions can be difficult, especially when those changes involve aging parents. These are never easy conversations, but how you talk through these issues is as important as the actual decisions. Please join us on June 1 from 9–11am for a panel discussion on just these issues. Discussion will include: educating your options prior to an emergent event and when to start planning; aging in place. An attorney will speak on estate planning and planning for the future. Hospice of the Valley will discuss and educate us about the many programs and services available. Register here or call the church office for assistance in registering. 480-948-1234

June 2nd marks the return of La Casa’s Adult Education BAGELS AND BIBLE STUDY! All five Sundays in June will start with fellowship and conversation, coffee and flavors (iced or hot), and a choice of morning-fresh bagels, smothered in a variety of cream cheeses. LIZ LUCAS returns with her latest Bible Study, FIRST CENTURY CHURCH WORKERS. Just like our church volunteers today, we will meet First Century men and women who gave their time, talents and treasures to the many new converts who came to Christianity after the death and resurrection of Christ. Your eyes will be opened as you personally see the contribution these volunteers made as they lived out their faith in our risen Lord.

EACH CLASS STANDS ALONE – COME TO AS MANY AS YOU CAN! BRING YOUR SUMMER VISITORS WITH YOU. WALK-INS ALWAYS WELCOME.

Register or Volunteer for Vacation Bible Xperience!

Have you ever seen the view from ‘Above the Treetops?' God has created every single detail. During the week of VBX we will explore many adventures in the Bible together. From Zacchaeus to Jesus Feeding the 5000, it is a week of digging into the Bible that you DON’T want to miss! There will be crafts, recreation, music and MORE! Click here.

Cost: $20.00

Ages: 4-yr-old through 6th grade (as of Sept 1). This means they have to be 4 by then. 

Volunteer ages: 7th grade-Adult are needed to help make our week run smoothly. From being in front of the kids to behind the scenes, there are many ways we can use your help.

NOTE: Nursery is only available for children of adult volunteers. You cannot access the form unless you sign up as a volunteer. We need more volunteers to accommodate more children, so please consider helping for a few hours each day during VBX!

John Jay Harper will be our Love of Learning guest speaker on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 1pm in Room B. His presentation “Practical Gardening for the Summer in the Desert” is one not to be missed. Jay comes to us with tons of knowledge to share. He was president of Harper’s Nursery and Landscape Co. for 37 years. After the business closed in 2017, Jay continued his commitment to growing better crops, turf, plants and trees naturally and organically in a few different roles. The Harper name is a familiar one here at La Casa de Cristo and we are very excited that he will be spending time to teach us. In addition, there will be a special take away for each participant that attends the presentation. Please register here.

Camp is fast approaching!

We are in need of 'home team' volunteers for 1 or 2 hours to help at La Casa the morning on which we send the kids off to camp, Monday, June 3rd at 7am. Sign up here.
