The Maine State Library is currently negotiating a new contract for interlibrary loan van delivery service amongst the over 200 participating Maine libraries. We were notified yesterday that we need to suspend all interlibrary lending beginning today to facilitate the transition.
Patrons will still be able to request and place holds on items the Southwest Harbor Public Library owns, but not on other library’s materials. We do not have a confirmed length of the interruption, but the Maine State Library estimates that there will be no van delivery for at least six weeks beginning on July 1st.

In the meantime, the MDI libraries will work together in the best way we can to help support our community's diverse library materials interests! Anyone with a Jesup Memorial Library, Northeast Harbor Library, and Southwest Harbor Public Library card can use their borrowing card in person at any of the three libraries and can return their materials at each library as well.
